Mexico's Secretariat of the Navy reported the detention of a Colombian woman at Mexico City airport. Cocaine was found in 14 cosmetic containers in her luggage. The passenger has been handed over to the authorities for investigation.

The Secretariat of the Navy reported the detention of a Colombian woman at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) after ensuring possible cocaine hidden in cosmetic containers. According to the department, the events occurred in Terminal 2 during a baggage inspection of a passenger arriving from Bogotá, Colombia, as part of the security actions implemented at the airport. During the inspection, personnel from the Naval Airport Protection Unit detected 14 vials of different capacities that simulated containing cosmetic products. When analyzed with specialized equipment, these tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride. The Secretariat of the Navy detailed that “14 vials of different capacities were found hidden inside the luggage”, which led to the immediate detention of the passenger. Likewise, it indicated that the person was made available to the competent authorities along with the seized substance, while the corresponding investigation file is being integrated. The institution highlighted that these actions are part of permanent operations in coordination with immigration and customs authorities.
